By registering your child for any program at Code Academy Uganda, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and consented to the terms outlined in this policy.

📚 Program and Performance Data:

  • Attendance records
  • Student projects and coursework
  • Progress reports and instructor feedback

📸 Media Footage:

  • Photographs, video, and audio recordings of students and their work during classes, workshops, and events

💻 Website and Technical Data:

  • When you visit our website, we may collect data such as your IP address, browser type, and browsing behavior through cookies to improve user experience

2How We Use Your Information

We use the data collected for the following specific purposes:

  • To Administer Our Programs: To process registrations, manage class schedules, and maintain student records
  • To Communicate With You: To send important updates about classes, schedules, progress reports, newsletters, and invoices
  • To Ensure Safety: To be aware of any medical conditions or allergies that may require attention during class time
  • To Improve Our Services: To monitor student progress, evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum, and develop new programs
  • For Promotional and Marketing Purposes: To showcase our learning environment and student achievements on our website, social media, brochures, and other promotional materials, subject to your consent
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: To meet any legal or regulatory requirements in Uganda

3Legal Basis for Processing Data

Our legal basis for processing your and your child's personal data under the Act is primarily:

  • Consent: You provide clear consent for us to process data for specified purposes by agreeing to this policy upon registration
  • Contractual Necessity: Processing is necessary for the performance of the contract we enter into with you to provide educational services
  • Legitimate Interests: We process data for legitimate interests, such as improving our services, provided these interests do not override your rights and freedoms

4Media Release: Photographs and Video Footage

At Code Academy Uganda, we are proud of our students and our vibrant learning environment. We frequently capture photographs and video footage during our classes, workshops, and events to celebrate student engagement and achievements.

📸 Purpose of Use

These images and recordings may be used for promotional purposes, including but not limited to:

  • Our official website (www.codeacademyug.org)
  • Official social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Printed marketing materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, banners)
  • Presentations and reports to partners and stakeholders

✅ Consent Clause

By enrolling your child at Code Academy Uganda and agreeing to this Privacy Policy, you grant Code Academy Uganda a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display photographs, video, and audio recordings of your child taken during our programs for promotional and educational purposes.

We are committed to protecting your child's identity. We will not use a child's full name in conjunction with their image in public-facing materials without obtaining separate, explicit written consent from a parent or guardian.

🚫 Right to Opt-Out

We respect your decision regarding your child's image. If you DO NOT wish for your child to be photographed or recorded, you must notify us in writing by sending an email to privacy@codeacademyuganda.com or by submitting a signed letter at our front desk. We will then take all reasonable steps to exclude your child from group photos and recordings where possible.

5Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may only share your data with:

  • Our Staff: Instructors and administrative staff who require the information to perform their duties
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We may use trusted third parties for services like payment processing or cloud data storage (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365). These parties are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services we request
  • Legal Authorities: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our community
